Shayne Jansen calls himself the “anti-Tinder Swindler” due to his brutal honesty and unfiltered personality in the pods of Love Is Blind season 2.
Love Is Blind season 2 star Shayne Jansen has taken to social media to joke that his brutal honesty and unfiltered personality with the women in the pods make him “the anti-Tinder Swindler.” When it comes to Netflix releases from February 2022, two particular projects have stuck out to reality TV fans: the long-awaited Love Is Blind season 2 after a two-year hiatus and the frightening documentary film The Tinder Swindler about a man who lied to multiple women and manipulated them to get into scams of all different sorts.
Though some viewers have labeled Shayne a “villain” on the show for the way that he has acted with fiancée Natalie Lee while also having a deep connection with Shaina Hurley, it is pretty agreed-upon that he is extremely unfiltered and not afraid of telling everyone exactly who he is… sometimes to a fault. During his pod confessionals, Shayne told Love Is Blind fans that he was aware of how he came off to others, and he embraced those sides to his personality.
Following the success of The Tinder Swindler on Netflix, Shayne has now re-shared a post that labels him as the “anti-Tinder Swindler.” As seen in the screenshot below, the quote used in the post has Shayne saying, “I think I’m a huge tool, 100%. I own that. That’s fine. I get it.” This is the kind of brutal honesty that Shayne believes makes him the exact opposite type of man as the so-called “Tinder Swindler” who lied to so many women about his different origins, jobs, whereabouts, and identities. If the “Tinder Swindler” lied to charm his way through several women, Shayne flat-out told his potential fiancées about a lot of his flaws and let them decide if they’d want to put up with him.
To be fair, certain fans have called out Shayne for acting very differently in the pods if he was talking to Natalie or to Shaina. With that said, Shayne just appeared to have a very different kind of chemistry with each of those girls, so the topics he brought up and things he reflected on were just wildly different depending on which conversation he was trying to have. When talking to Natalie, Shayne often had much deeper conversations about real-life situations and potentially having a serious relationship. In turn, Shayne and Shaina had pretty shallow conversations in the pods about what they were wearing and things of that nature.
Only the first batch of five episodes has been released by Netflix yet, so Love Is Blind fans will have to keep tuning in to find out if Shayne and Natalie will get to the altar and get married. Shaina also declared that she wanted to pursue Shayne outside of the pods despite being engaged to Kyle Abrams. Just like Love Is Blind season 1, things are getting quite messy in season 2.
Love Is Blind season 2 airs Fridays at 3 a.m. ET / 12 a.m. PT on Netflix.
