Dying Light 2: The Best Weapons to Get First

Dying Light 2 has quite a few weapons that players can get early on, and the best of them are found within the first couple hours of gameplay.

At the beginning of Dying Light 2, players will have to collect weapons to survive, and weapons can range from different rarities in Dying Light 2  to Common, Uncommon, Rare, Unique, and Artifact. And depending on the type of weapon, either 1H (1-Handed) or 2H (2-Handed) will determine how the player swings it. Also, weapons come in different damage types, Blunt or Slashing.

So, the best weapons to start out with determines the player’s fighting style, personal choice, or weapon they have on hand. Generally, the best weapons to get first are weapons with higher rarity levels, as they provide more damage per hit and have higher durability per swing. These weapons are Rare, Unique, or Artifact.

Higher rarity weapons can be given to players when completing a Story mission or by searching loot areas around the map. Most can be found in locked chests which the player can lockpick. Some of the best weapons in Dying Light 2 can vary on damage type. For example, blunt damage is extremely strong as it can cause Stun, which cannot be blocked by human enemies.

After enough Stun damage has been built up, enemies will be sent flying off their feet, leaving them wide open to quick or heavy attacks. Weapons that have blunt damage will have the “Blunt” tag on them when inspecting the weapon in the Inventory Menu. For Slashing Type weapons, they will do more overall damage but provide no Stun bonus. They are most useful against zombies and enemies that do not have the ability to block.

In terms of weapon type, overall 2H weapons are better. They provide more damage or for Blunt weapons, more Stun damage per hit, and can hit multiple enemies with one swing. The only downside to 2H weapons is Stamina usage while parkouring in Dying Light 2 and movement speed because 2H weapons are so versatile. At the start, players will have to lowest amount of Stamina, which will only allow 2-3 swings before they become tired. Also, when parkouring 2H, weapons will feel weighty, forcing players to move more carefully.

This is where 1H weapons come in handy, 1H weapons are not as strong or can hit multiple enemies like 2H weapons, but they are much lighter and cost less Stamina per swing. They are best used during parkour and parkour fighting combos. Players will have to maneuver carefully during group battles as 1H weapons struggle against large groups. In the end, it is up to player choice and preference. But weapons players should be on the lookout first are Rare 2H weapons with Blunt damage.
