Cynthia Bailey’s ‘Sad’ RHOA Exit Explained

Find out why Celebrity Big Brother 3 star Cynthia Bailey chose to quit The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2021 after being on the show for 10 years.

Celebrity Big Brother season 3 viewers are getting to know Cynthia Bailey and are wondering why she decided to leave The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2021 after being on the show for 10 seasons. Model and reality TV star Cynthia Bailey is now competing on CBB3 as one of the 11 celebrities on the show for the grand prize of $250,000. However, she had a long journey on reality TV as one of the cast members of RHOA.

Cynthia made her TV debut in the Real Housewives of Atlanta season 3 cast. She starred in the series alongside OG cast members Nene Leakes, Shereé Whitfield, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Kandi Burruss, and Phaedra Parks. Over the years, Cynthia saw a lot of casting changes on RHOA and outlasted all of her original costars from season 3 on the show. Alas, Cynthia shocked the Real Housewives fans when she announced that she’d be leaving the franchise after RHOA season 13.

In an interview with E!, Cynthia talked about how bittersweet it felt to come to the decision that she had to leave The Real Housewives of Atlanta behind her. “I’m happy but I’m also sad at the same time,” she explained, “It’s almost like, ‘What in the world, how did I do this for 11 years?'” Cynthia also talked about how challenging it had always been to do RHOA, revealing that she had thought of quitting the show many times before. During the interview, Cynthia mentioned that Bravo offered her a “friend” role for RHOA season 14, and she initially considered it. Ultimately, though, she felt like it was better to just “cut the cord.”

Now, 54-year-old Cynthia is entering Celebrity Big Brother 3 to play the game and potentially bring home $250,000 if she leaves the Big Brother house as the winner of this season. As shown on RHOA, Cynthia started dating Fox Sports host Mike Hill in 2018. Cynthia and Mike got engaged in 2019 and then tied the knot in 2020. It is rumored that this new relationship was another reason why Cynthia was drawn to leaving RHOA. Fans speculated that Cynthia wanted to focus on her new marriage and the life they’d build together from that point forward. In any case, Cynthia was featured on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which was the first-ever All-Stars edition within the franchise.

Cynthia may have competed for screentime during her time on RHOA, but she doesn’t have experience appearing in a reality competition series like Celebrity Big Brother. With that said, she is in the BB house with RHOBH alum Teddi Mellencamp and appears to know former Queer Eye fashion expert Carson Kressley, so maybe they will work out an alliance in the game. Big Brother fans can’t wait to see if Cynthia will play the game and get to the end.
